IT IS DONE. Over 10 hours of work with 5H, 4H, 2H, H, HB, 2B, 4B and 6B Derwent Sketch pencils and possibly the best thing I've ever drawn ever.

My grandfather at the age of about 20. He was never in the war, just in the land army. He never attended school after year 8, and every bit of knowledge about the world was obtained from the army.

inneresting. i live with my grandma. she says the japs came to her village and raped the women and shot the men while she hid under the bed. he was 8 or 12 years old then.

you should totally dig for war stories from your granpa. the books almost never talk about the war from an individual's point of view. most of the survivors are dead or dying. it irks me that the younger generation will forget the deaths of so many people simply because their stories are taken to the grave.

My grandmother was part of a rich family, which basically doomed her entire extended fimilial relations the second the Communists took over.
Both my grandparents were still kids when they had to randomly be ushered into this particular room behind the toilets (which would have smelt quite disgusting and thus prevented the Japanese from continuing on to discover the ladies and children hiding behind them - or something like that).
I get told stories often.
