Sherlock: the Tutorialish

I tried uploading this last night but net was like NOE BOO YOU LITTLE}

SO. Yes a tutooooorial thing. It's not quite a tutorial since I only did progress screen shots until ~saharali asked me to do a tutorial on colourinnnngggggg. I was up to the right eye (his left my right) so I took a whole bunch of screenshots when I drew thatttt.

On my actual "technique":
Ok. Guys. In case you didn't realise I winged this entire picture. So in essence there was a method I followed but most of this was gut feeling lol.. I can't teach you that. Art is something that just comes out of me rather than something that I've learnt. I can't really pass on something like that.
Although before Sherlock I did try something with a similar technique except drawing on top of the reference image itself (akin to tracing, really, but it was tracing the colours) so I guess that helps. Tracing does, in a way, help you get used to the contours of someone's face, but it's not until you try to copy something freehand without former guides that you really start to train you eye in spotting your mistakes.


I have no idea if this helps anyone, but I hope it does.
Also, sorry for the crazy ass handwriting lol I really hate typing things in Photoshop. I actually just hate simplifying and merging all these millions of layers, so I generally just freehand everything. Sorry if it drives you nuts.
